KLAPPE AUF!
CINEMA for EVERYONE
Short films and quality cinema should be made accessible to as many people as possible. Our goal at KLAPPE AUF! is to make cultural events obtainable and tangible for everyone. KLAPPE AUF! is an all inclusive project that demonstrates just how much fun inclusion can be. By focusing on inclusion in our festival program, we show those attending that professionalism and quality do not need to be made exclusive. Inclusion should be normalised, not just a topic of concern for people with disabilities. Our comprehensive understanding of inclusion is evident in the way the festival is structured, as well as being reflected in the films selected for screening. The films should not necessarily deal directly with topics of disability or inclusion, but rather should be multi-layered and artistically demanding. The decisive factor for us is that the films are made accessible to as many people as possible, in particular those who have been previously denied access to such cinema in the past. Short films are well suited for this purpose, as they can be created by both laymen and professionals. They are entertaining in presentation and are able to show different genres and styles. For the most part, short films do not often have barrier-free versions made available. At our festival, we make a point of providing this level accessibility to our film programs. In addition to the films shown there will be Audio Description, as well as Captions and Sign Language Interpreters during the discussions between the films screened. This will also be included for the opening and awards ceremony The entire organisation team of the festival, which consists of a wide variety of people with and without disabilities, is defined by cooperation and understanding, focusing on maintaining as much equality as possible.
